COMMUNITY OP-SHOP PROGRAM
Helping our community access affordable clothing and household items
Open most week days 8:30AM to 12:30PM
Opportunity Shop
There are many positive benefits to Op shopping at Kununurra Neighbourhood House (KNH) from recycling to helping disadvantaged Australians living in the East Kimberley. The Community Op Shop Program provides a valuable service to the local community and is run by hard-working volunteers, and proceeds from the sales of discounted items support the delivery of our community programs.
What we sell
As a small op-shop we focus on offering a full range of new and used clothes and smaller items, including clothing for men, women, babies and children; shoes; hats; handbags; accessories; toys; small homewares and books for adults and children. Most items - $1-2 each Fill a small bag - $5 Fill a large bag - $10 Op Shopping helps the local community For many people, the remoteness of Kununurra makes it difficult to be able to access affordable clothing for themselves and their family. With almost all items priced at just one dollar, the KNH Community Op Shop Program aims to help provide people with access to affordable clothing. But it's not just for those in need, as the op shop has lots of merchandise to move and all the profits from our op shop go right back into the community, funding our local community programs. Op Shopping is fun Op shopping is like treasure hunting. You have the thrill of shopping without the guilt of maxing out the credit card. Whether you’re looking for dress ups, work clothes or just enjoy the anticipation of not knowing what lies inside, pop in and have some fun. Op Shopping is environmentally friendly Shopping in op shops is great for the environment, reducing demand for new clothes and reduces the amount of clothing going into landfill. You can donate clothes you no longer wear and buy more clothes, eliminating waste in the process. Saturday op-shop When we have enough volunteers we open the Op-Shop on the first Saturday morning of the month (subject to volunteer availability). Check our Facebook page to see when the next Saturday opening will be. Donating to the op-shop
Donating and shopping at the KNH op shop has many positive benefits from recycling to helping disadvantaged people within our community. We welcome donations of clean clothing, accessories and small homewares. The best things to donate are things that you would be happy to keep using yourself but just don't need anymore. Please consider that we have to pay to dispose of items that we can’t sell when donating. |
